You moved into a place with an existing home security system
Sometimes when you buy a home, a security system is already established. All the alarms and cameras work, are placed in the correct areas, and are ready to go. In this case, you might find that you have to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint expert will still show up to make sure there are no compatibility problems, and they could offer ideas on upgrades. It's a quick trip, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new devices -- unless you add on.
The outgoing owners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a small set-up cost to make your life easier. If the owners are downsizing to a condo or retirement community, you keeping the Vivint contract might be a part of the sale.
You need to move and take your old equipment with you
You might want to bring along your old Vivint system with you to a new house when you move. Luckily, it's fairly simple to accomplish, as many alarms and smart devices are plug and play. You can uninstall each alarm or camera by yourself or call a professional installer to take down the system. Then our installers will hang the same components -- and any additions you want to put in -- in the new home. The home security contract will stay the same.
